70Rai is the heart of Klongtoey slum. The biggest slum of Bangkok, Thailand.
I started photo project about the people and community of 70Rai in January 2006.
The project is not much for public at the moment. (Though I started it as reportage in 2006.)
This is result of my transaction with the community and my friends living there.
I think they deserve some recording - for their dramatic, fateful as well as joyful aspect of living. So I have taken photos for them.
Take pictures, print and give it back to the ones who is in the picture.
Not for somebody else - like the viewers at the exhibition.
Many photos I gave them end up put on the refrigerator or kept in their wallet, sometimes wrapped with plastic and carried in their pocket.
That is the ultimate purpose of the photos I take. I am proud of it.
After 7 years of project, I have good stock of photos, and it look like a chronicle than pile of single photos.
I use Black and white film, which I develop and print myself.
